I am thrilled to share my enchanting solo adventure at the Marriott Marquis Houston, where I had the pleasure of partnering with Marriott to explore this incredible destination. Thanks to their generous complimentary weekend stay, I was able to immerse myself in the luxurious amenities and vibrant atmosphere of this renowned hotel. Come along as I explore the enchanting Texas Winter Lights, indulge in fine dining, savor a refreshing massage, and create unforgettable memories that made this journey truly remarkable. Whether you're planning a visit or simply dreaming of a winter escape, let me take you along on this magical journey through the heart of Houston.

Texas Winter Lights Experience

Let's begin with the highlight of my stay -- the Texas Winter Lights event held at Altitude Rooftop & Pool, located on the sixth floor of the hotel. The vibrant light displays were nothing short of mesmerizing, inviting me into a whimsical world of holiday cheer. I captured countless photos, participated in themed activities, and even rode a VR sleigh ride that brought the magic of the season to life.

The holiday-themed drinks, adorned with jingle bells, added an extra festive touch to the evening. A DJ was mixing holiday favorites, and there were booths offering holiday treats such as flavored popcorn and a churro bar.

Pure Spa Treatment

On Saturday morning, I indulged in a 50-minute treatment at the Pure Spa. My therapist, Tori, delivered a phenomenal full-body massage that left me feeling rejuvenated and pampered. Afterward, I savored a cup of tea and a mimosa in the spa's tranquil relaxation area before heading out for another day of adventure.

Arrival & Room Tour

Now, let's back up to my arrival at the Marriott Marquis Houston on Friday afternoon. I immediately felt welcomed by the attentive staff who assisted me with valet parking and a bellhop who assisted me with bringing my belongings to my room. My pool-view room on the 28th floor was a cozy retreat, complete with a king-sized bed, mini fridge, and a coffee/tea maker. The room's sleek design and breathtaking views set the perfect tone for my solo adventure.

The staff left some treats in my room for me to enjoy: sparkling wine, a large Marriott cookie, and a delicious piece of cheesecake.

Let's take a moment to admire the beauty of the hotel lobby. So photo-worthy!

Relaxation at M Club

I found solace in the M Club on the sixth floor. I visited the lounge several times during my stay. This exclusive space offered an array of complimentary amenities, including hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and snacks available throughout the day. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided a serene backdrop for unwinding with a drink in hand. It was here that I connected with other travelers, sharing stories and laughter in a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.

I also enjoyed their breakfast buffet on Sunday morning and went down for refreshments and coffee several times during my stay. The staff were incredibly kind and fun! Special thanks to Luz, Janae and the other staff members who went the extra mile to make me feel special!

Dining Options

The hotel’s culinary scene did not disappoint, starting with dinner at Xochi. The Barbacoa de Res de Zaachila—a delightful dish featuring grilled rolled tenderloin and a rich pepper adobo—was a standout. I also enjoyed a delicious chocolate martini. A chance meeting at the bar sparked an impromptu dinner with a fellow solo female traveler,  followed by an evening of fun at a nearby bar. We also reunited with two ladies I had met earlier that evening at Biggos bar.

The next day, I lunched at Biggos, where the Blackened Salmon, paired with chili garlic kale and crispy artichoke, was a flavorful delight. While I was there, I encountered another group of women whom I had met on Saturday, and we later went clubbing together that night after I returned from the bar with the first group. Needles to say, I made a lot of new connections during this trip!

Beyond the hotel, Houston has so much to explore. Discovery Green is just across the street, perfect for a stroll or some ice skating. The Theatre District and Museum District are cultural hubs with something for everyone.

Final Thoughts

As I packed my bags to leave, I reflected on the incredible experiences that filled my stay at the Marriott Marquis Houston. The blend of luxurious amenities and the enchanting Texas Winter Lights made my visit truly unforgettable. This hotel is more than a place to stay; it's a captivating destination that promises lasting memories and a desire to return.
